Swim School
The Blue Reef Okinawa Swim School curriculum is a 14 level program beginning with putting our feet and faces in the water, bringing students to confidently swimming 100 meters freestyle and 100 meters breaststroke without rest.
Lessons are Thursdays at 3:00, 4:00, or 5:00pm at the Comprehensive Park Pool HERE.
Students begin poolside with the Water Safety Pledge and a stretching routine before beginning their practice. Each session is 50 minutes and instructor to student ratios are 1:2 or less to ensure consistent attention to your child’s progress.
Each student is different and we see peaks and valleys along the learn to swim journey with most students. One of the bigger early hurdles is learning to trust (themselves, their instructors, and the water itself) when learning to float and become independent in this essential skill. Once this trust is established we often see students progress quickly through the lifesaving backstroke and into the more dynamic movements of streamlining and putting together the building blocks of their freestyle stroke.
Once the building blocks have been established, sessions become aimed at building strength and endurance, first in the legs (kick) and then in stroke and rhythmic breathing.
